The PRFU is proud to have supported three participants at the recent World Rugby Level 2 Immediate Care in Rugby (ICIR) Course in Jakarta, Indonesia: Enrico Barin (PSC MSAS), Dr. Felix Gaddi (PSC MSAS), and Dr. David Adamson.
Having qualified medics is a big part of making sure rugby in the Philippines continues to grow safely and sustainably. Player welfare is everything — and by investing in our medical team, we’re building the strong foundations the game needs to thrive. This journey was made even more meaningful with our partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission, with MSAS team members also taking part. As Enrico shared, “Being part of the ICIR Course has greatly helped my current PT clinical practice. It provided up-to-date in-field rugby medical knowledge and skill. Meeting ASEAN counterparts reassures me that local practice is at par with the region.” Dr. Gaddi added, “It was a great experience. Revisiting the basics of giving the best care to our rugby players was refreshing — and meeting new people was definitely a bonus.” Dr. Gaddi is also set to attend the World Rugby Educator Course (Medical Strand) on May 16–18 in Dubai, which will help train more personnel locally and build sustainable capacity within the PSC MSAS team and the Philippine Rugby Community. PRFU’s Training and Education Director, Damon Freeman, summed it up best: "Player welfare has always been at the heart of rugby. By supporting our medics with world-class training, we’re making sure the future of the game in the Philippines is in safe hands.” Congratulations to our participants and thank you for flying the flag for Philippine rugby!
