MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) will be having 47 youth coaches, marking the largest number of participants so far, for the upcoming ChildFund Rugby Pass It Back Training for Coaches, scheduled on July 17 to 22, in Talisay City, Negros Occidental. This second Pass It Back Training for Coaches this 2024 expects to beat the record of 39 certified youth coaches produced from the first half of the year that delivered the Pass It Back curriculum to kids within their own communities. The upcoming pool of aspiring youth coaches includes young people from different backgrounds to ensure the program benefits from a range of perspectives and experiences, providing opportunities to both in-school and out-of-school youth from different areas of Negros Occidental, Albay Province, Olongapo, and including guests from Turkey. Since the inception of the Pass It Back program in 2017, which targets young individuals from vulnerable communities, the PRFU has been pioneering the program's goals in the country and has already produced a total of 119 young coaches. Together with these certified young coaches, the PRFU has significantly expanded the reach of the ChildFund Rugby program, which started in Negros Occidental, to additional hubs in Albay and Makati, and is now growing in Olongapo City. The PRFU is committed to continue to deliver the World Rugby Pass It Back program goals by conducting two seasons of Pass It Back Training for Coaches each year, nurturing these aspiring young coaches through a comprehensive training that covers all the necessary aspects for coaching, including rugby skills, life skills, safeguarding, and child protection.
