The 7s format has seen the Philippine Volcanoes on a remarkable rise proving nothing is impossible. Beginning in 2005 as an exhibition sport for the South East Asia Games, the Philippines now boast a remarkable record since their inclusion into the Asia Rugby Sevens Series. From a 2011 second place finish in Borneo, to a 3rd place finish in 2012 at the Singapore 7s, to qualification and participation at the 2013 7s Rugby World Cup becoming the first Philippine National Team to qualify for any World Championships in 50 years.
The most recent success recording a Bronze medal finish at the 2018 Asia Sevens Series, earning a qualification for the 2019/2020 World Series Qualifier in Hong Kong. In 2019 the Philippines also bagged a Gold Medal at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. All this in just 10 years after their inclusion of 7s Rugby into the Philippines. The National Men's 7s team will compete in the following tournaments in 2023 pending confirmation
