Eligibility
Under World Rugby rules, to play for the Philippine National Team, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- You have at least 1 parent or grandparent that was born in the Philippines
- You have five (5) years of uninterrupted residency in the country
- You were born in the Philippines

Do I have to show evidence of my parent or grandparent heritage?
Yes. You need to provide a birth certificate or registration of birth to demonstrate heritage.
Do I need a Philippine Passport to be eligible to play for the National Team?
For Asia Rugby or World Rugby tournaments, a Philippine Passport is not required so long as you can evidence one of World Rugby Regulation 8 criteria as outlined above. For Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games, or Olympic pathway competitions, a Philippine Passport is required to play.
Can the Union help me obtain a Philippine Passport?
PRFU can support players with the basic steps needed to acquire a Philippine Passport, but each situation has individual complexities so it is best to consult with the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in your country for the most up to date process.
What is the process for selection?
Interested players are informed of upcoming tournaments and asked to confirm expressions of interest. The coach and management team review footage and other performance factors to determine selection and players are then informed of their selection status for that tournament.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
- You will need a full body shot photo in a plain background.
- You will need a photo or scanned copy of your passport (your home country and / or Philippine passport(s)) and other document supporting your eligibility.
- Ideally prepare YouTube links to your rugby game footage and rugby highlights reel. If you don’t have any before registering, simply write “video to follow” in the registration form.
