National Women's Program

National Women's Program

The National Women's Program is currently growing into an explosive rugby force in Asia. A developing team which has already faced huge challenges on the Women’s series the Philippine Volcanoes boast impressive results over a short period of time together.

Already making a debut appearance in the inaugural prestigious Hong Kong Sevens in 2011 and a Bronze medal finish at the 2015 South East Asia Games the Philippine Volcanoes look forward to rising to the future challenges ahead with an aim of being a powerhouse in Asian Women’s rugby.

Their past achievements in the Asian Series both in 15s and 7s prove Women’s rugby in the Philippines is well and alive. In 2018 the Volcanoes finished 2nd place in the Division 1 Asia Rugby Championships (15s) and bagged a Silver Medal in the 2018 Asia Trophy Series. In 2019 the Volcanoes finished second in the Asia Rugby Division 1 Championships and bagged the Gold Medal at the 2019 Asia Trophy Series. This result promotes the Philippines to the 2020 Asia Rugby Sevens Series. The team also went on to win a Silver Medal at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in Clark.

The Volcanoes continue their rise in Asian rugby not only as a recognisable team on the field but a team popular amongst its fans and the general public off the field.
