Davao, Philippines - On January 24 - 25, PRFU hosted its first L1 7s coaching course in SOS Village, Davao. PRFU Director of Rugby and national team coach Matt Cullen, together with newly certified educator and Lady Volcano Kaye Honoras, led the coaching course. Sunday was dedicated for the coaching course specific to 7s rugby. " I really learned a lot from this course. I did not know rugby before but now I believe I can bring the sport to my baranggay and teach kids there," said one parent who attended the course. " I believe that with the skills we acquired from the course I can now help coach and recruit more players, especially women here in Davao," shared by one female player of Davao Durians. PRFU looks to continue its local development initiative through its Usbong rugby grassroots program and Davao has shown a remarkable increase since last year. Great work everyone! Special thanks to PRFU development officers BK delos Santos and Rose Lanticse, also to Gray Goodwin (Davao Durians Rugby Club President and sponsor) for their assistance.
