Ada Milby Elected to World Rugby's Executive Board

30 June, 2023 - Philippine Rugby is thrilled to announce the election of Ada Milby to World Rugby’s Executive Board. Ada's appointment marks a historic moment for the global organization as she becomes the first representative from Asia to join the esteemed board.

Ada Milby, a respected leader and advocate for the global rugby community, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role on the Executive Board. With an extensive background in rugby, Ada has played a pivotal role in promoting and developing the sport across the Asia region, and her election underscores World Rugby's commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion within the organization.

As a former captain of the Philippine Women's Rugby Team, Ada has made significant contributions to the growth of women's rugby in Asia. Her passion for the sport, combined with her dedication to empowering women and marginalized communities, has garnered widespread recognition and respect within the rugby fraternity. Ada's visionary leadership has been instrumental in expanding participation, enhancing governance structures, and fostering opportunities for aspiring rugby players at all levels.

Milby's appointment to the Executive Board comes at a critical juncture for the sport, as World Rugby strives to create a more inclusive and equitable environment for all its stakeholders. Eagles RFC Men & Women, La Liga Emerges Victorious at 2023 PRFU Luzon Rugby Cup

Pasig City, June 26, 2023 — The 2023 PRFU Luzon Rugby Cup, one of the most highly anticipated rugby tournaments of the year, concluded with a thrilling display of skill and determination at the Ultra Philsports Complex in Pasig City on June 24, 2023. The event witnessed fierce competition and showcased the unwavering spirit of rugby athletes from across Luzon.

​In a captivating Championship division match, the La Liga triumphed over SKF Makati Mavericks Roosters with an impressive score of 32 - 10. The match was marked by intense action and exceptional teamwork, with La Liga emerging as the deserving champions after 2 impressive wins this season. Evan Thomas of La Liga was honored as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Championship division, recognizing his outstanding contributions to his team's success all throughout the season.

​The Women's division final witnessed an incredible performance by Eagles RFC, who secured a convincing victory of 27 - 10 against SKF Makati Mavericks.  However, this victory came with a bittersweet touch, as Eagles' flyhalf and top playmaker, Aiumi Ono, suffered an unfortunate injury within the first 10 minutes of the game. In a heartfelt gesture, the team dedicated their emotional win and the MVP award to Ono, showcasing the camaraderie and sportsmanship that define the rugby community.

Adding to their Women's division triumph, Eagles RFC also emerged victorious in the Premiership Division title match. With an impressive display of skill and strategy, the Eagles RFC defeated the resilient Manila Nomads with a final score of 44 - 22.  The Manila Nomads fought back and scored a series of tries in the second half to cut down the lead. However, time wasn't on their side and the Eagles emerged victorious. Nevirittee Belden of Eagles RFC shone throughout the match, and his exceptional performance earned him the prestigious MVP award for the Premiership Division.

​The 2023 PRFU Luzon Rugby Cup not only celebrated the remarkable achievements of the winning teams but also showcased the passion and talent of all the participating clubs. The tournament provided an opportunity for rugby enthusiasts to come together, cheer for their favorite teams, and witness the indomitable spirit of rugby players.

PRFU Luzon Rugby Cup round 3 promises thrilling matches this weekend in Pasig City

Pasig City, 24 June 2023  – The Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) is delighted to announce the highly anticipated PRFU Luzon Rugby Cup Round 3, set to take place on June 24, 2023. Rugby enthusiasts from across the region are eagerly looking forward to a day of intense competition, camaraderie, and skillful displays on the field. The day kicks off at 9 am with the Championship Division between La Liga and SKF Makati Mavericks. La Liga, known for their tenacity and agile gameplay, will face a formidable challenge from the SKF Makati Mavericks. Rugby enthusiasts will witness a fierce competition as these teams go head-to-head in pursuit of the coveted championship title.

The Women’s Division will feature a thrilling contest between SKF Makati Mavericks and the Eagles RFC. The SKF Makati Mavericks, the reigning champions of the Women's Division in 2019, will aim to defend their title against the strong and determined Eagles RFC. This match promises to be an exceptional display of skill, athleticism, and teamwork, showcasing the rapid growth of women's rugby in the Philippines. 

The Premiership Division match, scheduled for 2 pm, will see a clash between two powerhouses, the Manila Nomads and the defending champions, Eagles RFC. These two formidable teams are renowned for their exceptional talent, strategic prowess, and sheer determination. Fans can expect an exhilarating battle as these sides vie for supremacy and look to showcase their rugby prowess.
