Two-year Fitness First sponsorship to help Volcanoes become fitter, faster, stronger Manila, 12 May 2016 – Fitness First Philippines recently formalised a sponsorship deal with the Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) to support the Philippine Volcanoes as they advance further in the sport at both the regional and international arenas. Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Fitness First will become the Official Gymnasium for the Philippine Volcanoes. Under the terms of the MoU, the members of the Philippine Volcanoes will be able to access all Fitness First gyms in the Philippines, and more than 350 other clubs throughout the international Fitness First network around the world, including Australia and the United Kingdom, where some of the players are based. In addition to cutting edge fitness equipment and training methodologies, the Volcanoes will also have access to expert advice from Fitness First trainers and a whole suite of group fitness classes to supplement their training. In return, the Volcanoes will sport the Fitness First logos on the National Team training attire as well as on advertising and promotions material, and engage in joint promotional campaigns from time to time. Jake Letts, General Manager and Head of National Teams, PRFU, expressed his delight partnership. “Fitness First is an ideal fit for the Volcanoes – the company’s brand represents a clear vision in fitness and wellness, and aligns with our values of inspiring people to go further in life through fitness. As a team we look to inspire the Filipino people with pride and encourage them to unite in exercise and sport. The Philippine Volcanoes have a responsibility to perform at their very best; I’m confident that we will benefit greatly from Fitness First’s expertise, and facilities, towards becoming fitter, faster, and stronger.” In particular, according to Letts, the Volcanoes are looking forward to training in an environment catered to high performance athletes, like Fitness First. “Physical attributes such as power, speed, endurance and flexibility are all necessary to play this high intensity sport. The wide range and variety of equipment and classes available at Fitness First will allow the Volcanoes to improve and strengthen our physical capacities so as to achieve greater personal and team success on the rugby pitch when representing the Philippines,” he continued. Mark Ellis, Managing Director of Fitness First Philippines, was equally upbeat. “We’ve partnered with individual athletes before, but not a full team. The Volcanoes are the first team we’ve partnered with, and we couldn’t have made a better choice. Their track record in recent years has been nothing short of stellar - we’re pleased to being given the opportunity to support them as they continue to blaze a trail in the international rugby arena. I’m sure our members and employees will also be excited at the thought of working out in the gym alongside sporting idols such as the Volcanoes, which presents opportunities to inspire each other towards reaching their fitness goals.” Ellis continued, “Personally, I’d like to see the Volcanoes undergo our proprietary BioScore assessment, Fitness First’s very own health and fitness assessment which tells you how old you are biologically in comparison to your actual age. It takes into consideration health, lifestyle and physical metrics to obtain a more holistic picture of a person’s health, and is a great tool for anyone interested in wanting to know how they can improve their fitness, or anyone wanting a starting point before setting off on a fitness journey or regimen. Following this, we can then help to design a realistic strategy and training plan, whether through training with a personal trainer, or our CustomFit app.” Fitness First Philippines’ partnership with the Philippines Volcanoes covers a period of two years with the option to renew.
