The excitement reached its peak as rugby enthusiasts gathered last Saturday, 26 August 2023 at the prestigious Ultra Philsports Complex in Pasig City, for the spectacular conclusion of the 2023 PRFU 7s Series - Luzon Second Leg. In a heart-stopping battle that left the crowd on the edge of their seats, the Clark Jets emerged as the Cup Champions, securing a hard-fought victory against the SKF Makati Mavericks with a nail-biting score of 14-12. The grand finale showcased the remarkable talent and determination of both teams as they battled it out on the field. The match remained a closely contested affair, with each try and conversion carrying immense weight. In the end, the Clark Jets clinched the title by a mere 2-point margin, demonstrating their prowess and unity as a team. Clark Jets' Joshua Aragon was awarded the MVP of the tournament. In the Women's division, the Eagles RFC soared to victory, claiming the Women's Cup Championship in a riveting encounter against the SKF Makati Mavericks Franky. The Eagles RFC secured a narrow victory with a final score of 14-10, showcasing their skill, strategy, and unwavering spirit. Two converted tries by MVP Nina Yanto proved to be the decider of the tightly contested match between the top women's rugby programs in the country, The tournament also celebrated outstanding performances from the Manila Nomads and Clark Jets, who proudly walked away with the Plate Champion titles for the Men's and Women's categories, respectively. Their dedication and exceptional gameplay were evident throughout the series, and their triumph in this leg further solidified their positions as strong contenders. Additionally, the SKF Makati Mavericks Vipers showcased their mettle and claimed the Bowl Champion title, adding to the thrilling competition that unfolded over the course of the tournament. The SKF Makati Mavericks Vipers fought hard to gain a 2 try advantage plus securing 1 conversion against their leg 1 rival, Global City 7s, leaving the score 17 against 7 in the Bowl Final. Well done to both teams for an intense Bowl finals match despite the unforgiving weather conditions on the day.
