![]() Alabang Ibons vs. Globe The JML PRFU 10s League kicked off with a bang this Saturday at Southern Plains, Eagles Nest. First up was the women’s division with a battle between the warrior princesses. It was a tough start with both teams playing on pretty equal terms, with team Xena winning the first game by 24-20. Team Athena put their foot down in the second game against Xena and ran away with a 22-5 victory. The first men’s game showed that there are plenty of local talent in the youthful CRC team who defeated the Vipers 66-24. They displayed excellent ball skills and constantly created gaps in the opposition defence. The Vipers on the other hand were focused on their forwards and tried to play the game up the middle of the field, this style of play was not enough to best the fast feet and hands of the youthful CRC team. The second bowl division game was against the newest addition to the Eagles club: the Falcons vs. MAAP. Much was expected from the Falcons and they proved themselves a force to be reckoned with. Their performance left MAAP answerless and the final score was 40-0 to the Falcons. In the plate division we had Globe facing off with the Ibons and Mavericks facing off with the Carabaos. Both games saw the more experienced clubs shut out the newcomers respectively. Globe struggled to keep up with the Ibons but managed to sneak in a try ending the game with the final score 52-7 to the Ibons. Mavericks managed to hold their own but with the Carabaos scoring 3 quick consecutive tries, the Mavericks could not manage a comeback. Final score 27-5 for the Carabaos. The first Cup game saw the Eagles run an impressive game of rugby which the Nomads had no answer for. Spreading the ball wide and a few interesting kicks made for an exciting game to watch. The Eagles dominated the Nomads and concluded the game with a convincing 45-5 victory over the Nomads. The next round of the JML 10s league will be played this Saturday Feb 23rd at Southern Plains from 1pm – 6pm. Comments are closed.
