Manila, Philippines – Philippine Rugby Football Union Inc. (PRFU) bids farewell to a stalwart and visionary leader, Jake Letts, who has played a pivotal role in shaping the course of Philippine Rugby over the past two decades.
Jake Letts, who first joined PRFU as one of the inaugural international heritage players in 2005, has been an integral part of the organization, contributing tirelessly both on and off the field. His journey with the Volcanoes saw him represent the team in both 15s and 7s until 2017, showcasing his exceptional skills and commitment to the sport.
Over the years, Letts transitioned seamlessly into administrative roles, taking on the responsibilities of National Teams Manager, General Manager, and eventually serving as CEO. His dedication, leadership, and strategic vision have been instrumental in elevating the stature of Philippine Rugby on the global stage.
In recognition of his unwavering commitment, Jake Letts was co-opted to fill in a vacant Trustee position earlier this year, completing the term which concluded in December 2023. As a Trustee, Letts continued to contribute his expertise and guidance to the Board, leaving an indelible mark on the governance and strategic direction of PRFU.
As PRFU looks back on Letts' significant contributions, the organization expresses its deepest gratitude for his invaluable service. Letts' departure marks the end of an era for Philippine Rugby, and the Board, players, and staff are united in acknowledging the remarkable legacy he leaves behind.
Letts shared, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my short time on the board over the last 10 months. I wish Tom, Ada, Gareth, Max, Phil, Steve and Rose all the very best in these honourable positions for the remainder of their terms. Moving forward I will never be too far away from the organisation, the PRFU has had a special place in my life for a long time. I look forward to seeing their success in time to come. A big thanks to all those who worked alongside not only in the office, but also the entire wider community”., shares Jake Letts.
President for Philippine Rugby Football Union Inc., Ada Milby added, “Jake has played a major role in developing the culture of professionalism within the union. As a player, administrator and trustee, he consistently brought all of his talent and skills to every role. Jake is ingrained into the DNA of rugby in the Philippines that will continue to shape the Game for years to come.
The annual general meeting held last week not only celebrated the accomplishments of the past year but also set the stage for the announcement of the incoming Board Trustees for the new term in the coming year.
